The School Cricket Captain top order left hand batswoman, right arm medium pace bowler, safe fielder, all rounder, colours holder, volleyball player and cricket coach Chamodi Hansika Ranasinghe brought honour and fame to her Alma Mater Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda with her deeds on the sports field.
Chamodi was admitted to the Grade one of Anula Vidyalaya Nugegoda in 2003 when Mrs. Jayathilake was at the helm of the school and her first class teacher was Mrs. Anoja Wickramanayake. Chamodi following her sister’s foot steps Ashani Deepani attended volleyball practices under Mrs. Rangika and her Volleyball teacher in charge was Mrs. Dilrukshi. In 2010 she was selected to the under 15 team and participated in the inter house Tournaments and later her school won the Divisional, Zonal and they were Provincial Runner Up in 2010 after winning the lower tournaments they were knocked out in the second round of the Provincial Tournament. Chamodi was appointed as the captain of the under 15 team in 2011 and they won the Divisional and, Zonal tournament and in the Provincial tournament they were the third Runner Up.
Up to 2014 she represented the volleyball teams in various age groups and commenced playing Handball and participating in the under 18 tournament they were the Runners Up and in the Plate Championships and Golds Tournaments they emerged Runner Up and in the following two years too they were the Runner Up. In the 2013 and 2014 Girl’s Cricket Season Chamodi was a member of the cricket team and they were coached by Sahan Deshapriya, Mrs. Shyamali and Mrs. Sujeewa Samarawickrama and they clinched the All Island Championship and in the following year they were the Runners Up. In the mean time participating in the soft ball tournament in 2013 and 2014 they were the Divisional, Zonal and Provincial Champions. In the following year too they won the championship and were the All Island Runners Up. She was the captain of the under 19 team in 2016/17 season and they were the All Island Runners Up . Under her captaincy they won the Big Match against their arch rivals Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya Gampaha.
At the school Colours Nite for the years 2016 and 2017 she was awarded school colours for Handball and Cricket and she took up the assignment at her school as the Assistant Coach and Vidura College also. She is a member of the Colts Cricket Club and participated in the National Youth Federation Tournament. She had a word of praise for her Principal Mrs. P. N. Rajapakse Hand Ball Coaches, Mrs. Ruchirani Wijesuriya, her parents Ranasinghe Dayaratne and Mrs. A. Kalyani and sister Ashini Dilka who were behind her success.
