Thehan Wijemanne clinched the Men’s Singles title for the first time at the 106th Colombo Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.
The schoolboy from Royal College continued his excellent form and defeated Chathurya Nilaweera 6-4, 4-6, 10-7 after a gruelling final encounter.
Gehansa Methnadi of Musaeus College beat Movindi Fernando 4-1, 4-1 in the Girls’ Under-12 Singles semi-final encounter.
Meanwhile on the previous day Anjalika Kurera came with a fine performance to win the women's singles title defeating Neyara Weerawansa with two straight sets 6-4,6-0. (D.R)
