Weerakoon joins ODI Squad to Bangladesh

Sri Lanka’s new Spin Bowling Coach Sajeewa Weerakoon accompanied the Sri Lanka One Day International (ODI) Squad for the tour of Bangladesh, which commenced yesterday.

The 43-year-old played two ODIs for Sri Lanka and has been serving as a Spin Bowling Coach at Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC’s) High-Performance Centre since July last year.

A product of St. Aloysius’ College, Galle later played for Galle CC, BRC and Colts CC as a left-arm spinner.

Weerakoon has played in 192 First-Class matches and has picked up 816 wickets. He started his coaching role as Head Coach of Saracens CC before joining SLC.
