National pride is at stake - Sanath Jayasuriya

Former Sri Lanka Captain Sanath Jayasuriya yesterday expressed his disappointment after Sri Lanka lost to Bangladesh in the second One Day International (ODI) in Dhaka on Tuesday.

With this win, Bangladesh won their first-ever bilateral ODI series against Sri Lanka with a match to play.

“As a past player and captain it’s very difficult for me to come to terms with the first series loss to Bangladesh” tweeted Jayasuriya. “National pride is at stake boys, fight to the last,” Jayasuriya urged the players.

With this win, Bangladesh also reached the top of the International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cup Super League Points Table with 50 points from eight games. However, Sri Lanka are currently placed at the bottom of the points table with minus two points with five losses from five games. (Agencies)
