Sachintha a prolific run getter for Rajans

Sachintha Dissanayake

Eighteen year old talented cricketer of Dharmaraja College,Kandy, Sachintha Dissanayake learnt to play the game of cricket in the year 2012 under the coaching of Ananda Wijesekera and Gamini Debahapuwa of the Cricket Academy of Dharmaraja College. He was in the Academy for two years and started playing cricket for the Under 13’A’ team as a front line left hand wicket keeper batsman. He scored 57 against Kingswood College,and 50 against St.Sylvester’s College in the Division One Cricket tournament In the year 2016, he was appointed as the Captain of the School Under 13’A’ Team and scored five half centuries against Trinity College, 74 against Wickremasheela Vidyalaya,Giriulla, 86 against Sri Sumangala , 68 against St.Anne’s Kurunegala and 50 against Polonnaruwa Royal College.

As the wicket keeper he got 25 victims behind the stumps during the season,for his outstanding performance and he was awarded Rajans Blues at the College Annual Colours Award Ceremony. He scored a total of 428 runs and became thehighest run-getter in the Central Province Schools. In the year 2017 cricket season he maintained his fine form to score 103 against Vidyartha College, and 61 against St.Sylvester’s College. He had 18 victims behind the stumps as an outstanding wicket-keeper. In the year 2018 he was selected as the Captain of the District Cricket team and scored over 190 runs including a century against Kegalle District. He was selected as the Player of the Tournament and was selected to the Under 15 Provincial team.

In the following year in 2019, Sachintha captained the under 15 team at the Division one cricket tournament and scored a brilliant Century against Maliyadewa Model School and scored 75 against Kingswood College and 89 against Sandalankawa Central College. In 2020 he was selected to the Under 17 cricket team as well as the Under 19 team o fthe School. In 2021 he scored two centuries including 100 runs against St.Sylvester’s College in their traditional cricket match. His father Ruwan Dissanayake played for the Rajan’s Cricket team from 1989 to 1991 and his elder brother, Kavishka Dissanayake played for the School from 2015 to 2019 and both Father and Son got School Colours. Sachintha is the third person in the family to play for Dharmaraja, First XI Cricket team. His ambition is to continue his studies and sports
