Lisal down Sandaru in Boys’ U-14 final

Lisal Goonatillake in action

Lisal Goonatillake produced a fine performance to win the Boys’ Under-14 Singles’ title on the penultimate day of the Colombo Open Tennis Tournament, which continued at the SLTA Courts in Green Path yesterday.

The schoolboy from S. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia, showed a lot of promise while overcoming Sandaru Guruge in straight sets 6-3, 6-3 in the final encounter.

The results:

Boys’ Under-14 Singles (final): Lisal Goonatillake beat Sandaru Guruge 6-3, 6-3.

Boys’ Under-18 Singles (semi-finals): Chathurya Nilaweera beat Kiran Vairwanathan 6-1, 6-4. Thehan Wijemanne beat Kavisha Rathnayake 6-1, 6-4.

Girls’ Under-18 Singles (semi-finals): Oneli Perera beat Hasali Gajaba 6-4, 6-0. Vishmi Serasinghe beat Saneshi Willorarachchi 6-0, 6-3. (A.N)
