‘Football Friday,’ a new concept initiated by the Ministry of Sports, commenced at the Racecourse Grounds in Reid Avenue yesterday.

This event is jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ceylon Professional Sport Management (CPSM) and the Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) with the aim of popularising the sport in the country.

The objective of this programme is to create a safe and controlled environment for the public to engage in sports despite the pandemic.

“The format for the sport will be a knock-out championship which will have guest appearances and participation from various popular sporting personalities.”
