Devananda and Dharmasoka emerge joint champs

Dharmasoka College and Sri Devananda College, Ambalangoda emerged joint champions of the inaugural Dr. Boteju Challenge Trophy Limited Over Cricket Tournament fixture played at the Public Grounds in Ambalangoda recently.

The tournament was organised by the Balapitiya Youth SC and many school teams from the region participated.

The final between the two schools ended in a thrilling draw with both teams scoring the identical score of 243 for nine in 50 overs.

Sasindu de Silva of Sri Devananda College was adjudged the Best Batsman of the Tournament and Man-of-the-Tournament while Randul Samarahewa of Dharmasoka won the Best Batsman of the Final Award.

In addition, Kaveesh Lakpahan of Sri Devananda College won the Best Bowler Award while Hasitha Rajapaksa of Dharmasoka bagged the Best Fielder Award.

Dharmasoka: 243/9 in 50 overs (Randul Samarahewa 85, Chamindu Bharatha 35, Lohan de Soyza 32, Lasindu Lakshan 3/33, Kaveesha Kalpana 3/63)

Sri Devananda: 243/9 in 50 overs (Hirusha Akash 78, Sasindu de Silva 52, Kanchana de Livera 42, Kaveesha Kalpana 34, Lohan de Soyza 4/41).
