Viduranga outstanding swimmer and diver

Viduranga Dulshan Hettiarachchi, an old boy of Dharmaraja College,Kandy is an outstanding Swimmer and Diver as well as a Football player. He had his School career from 2005 to 2018 at Dharmaraja and during this period he was a House Captain of Parakrama house of the School and his swimming and Football careers started simultaneously at Dharmaraja College in the year 2015 when he was 10 years old under the coaching of U.H.Sugath in Swimming and Football under the coaching of K.M.T.Konara.

Viduranga took part in the 42nd Sri Lanka Schools Swimming contest for the first time and won the 3rd place in Under 15- 100 M. and 200 M. Free Style events held at the Swimming Pool at Sugathadasa Stadium. In 2016 he secured the second place in 200 M. and third place in 100 Metres Free Style Swimming events at the XLII National Sports Festival and again in the same year he won the third place in 200 Metres Free Style event at the Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Championship in the under 17 age group. After that in the same year he represented the Mini Olympics held in Russia in 400 metres Free Style and 100 Metres

Breast Stroke without success. Viduranga went a further step forward in Swimming in that year itself by winning the first place in 200 metres. and 2nd place in 100 metres Free style events at the All Island Games. He gained more experience in swimming by this and secured second place in 200 Metres and third place in 100 Metres events at the XL National Sports Festival. He repeated his performances to secure the second place in the under 17 age group at the 44th Aquatic Sports Festival and he kept on participating in the year 2018 and won the second place in 200 Metres 3rd place in 50 Metres. and 100 Metres swimming events at the All Island Games.

Finally he was placed first in 200 Metres. Free Style event at the 45th Sri lanka Schools

Aquatic Sports Championship held in 2018. As a Football player he represented his school and Sisu Football Club,Ampitiya from the year 2010 to date and won many Football matches. He is also a Scuba Diver who learnt diving under Gemunu Weerasuriya and he has an Open Water Diving License and he is intending to get the Advance Open Water Diving License to become a Professional Diver.

Viduranga is thankful to his Swimming Coach, U.H.Sugath, Diving coach Gemunu Weerasuriya as well as the Football Coach, K.M.T.Konara for their support in his swimming and sports career and his parents for their encouragement and for the financial support given to him with the most difficulties.
