20 year old Ruggerite and under 19 National Rugger Poolist, Cricketer, Volleyball Player and Athlete Rashmikaralage Sanduni Chathumali brought honour and fame to her Alma Mater in sports the National School Dehiowita.
Her first school was Dehiowita Junior School and when she was admitted to this school her Principal was Piyawantha Munasinghe and her first class teacher was Mrs. Palika and there were no sports activities in that school during her period.
In 2011 she was admitted to the National School Dehiowita and when she was in the under 16 age group she attended Rugger practices under Nishantha Munasinghe and at the beginning she took part in the inter house school Rugger Tournament.
A team was selected from this tournament who performed well and she was selected to the under 16 team and she was the Scrum Half.
In 2015 they fielded anunder 16 team and in the girls Rugger Tournament they were the Cup Runners Up and in the following year too they got the same award.
But they were able to win the Bowl Championship in 2017 and in 2018 they were the Runners Up in the All Island Inter Schools Provincial Tournament in the same year her school held the Annual Colours Nite and Sanduni was awarded school colours.
Last year too they were the All Island Cup Runners Up. Their teacher in Charge of Rugger was Patricia Fernando. In 2018 Sri Lanka Rugby selected the Pool of 25 players and she was selected for the squad.
In 2018 she participated in the Inter House Cricket Tournament and her house became the Runners Up and in the same year in the under 18 tournament she captained the team in the Zonal Tournament and they emerged as Runners Up and she commenced playing for the Hard Ball Team and Dinush Harshana was the Coach and their school held an Inter House Cricket Tournament and in 2019 under 20 tournament she carried away the Best Batswoman Award. Same year her school organized a Cricket Carnival amongst the under 19 girls of the school and she captained the team and clinched the trophy.
She was a member of the under 16 Volleyball Team coached by. Sanjeewa they were the Runners Up in the Zonal Tournament and they were the Runners Up in the following year too.
Participating in the Inter House Athletic Meet she became first in Javelin in the under 16 age group and in the Divisional and Zonal she became first and in the District Level she was the sixth and her coach was Neomal Ranaweera and Teacher in Charge was Mrs. Kalana Abeygunawardene. In the following year too she repeated the same performances and finally in the school Inter House Sports Meet she came first in the under 20 and Divisional and Zonal and first in the District Meet and she was un successful in the Provincial Meet.
The Principal Rohana Gamage Deputy Principals Mr. Bandara and A. K. Robertson along with all the school officials were very supportive of her and her mother Mrs. Suwinitha Wickramasinghe is always behind her for her achievements and her father Ranjith Jayasekera died when she was a young girl.
Dehiowita National School organized an Inter House Under 19 Cricket Carnival in 2018 amongst the girls of their school and Golden Shadows Team clinched the Trophy.
