Trinitian Abhishek Anandakumar gave a fine all-round performances in the 2019 -20 season of the Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

Abhishek Anandakumar started his cricket career at the age of seven years at the Kandy Cricket Academy under coaches Lakshman Panditharathna and Indika Fernando in 2009. He commenced school Cricket at under 13 level in 2012 at Trinity College Kandy under the coaches Dimuthu Weerasinghe and . Lasith Randunu. He scored 247 runs with a century in the under 13 tournament in 2014. He led the school under 13 team, and scored 329 runs and claimed 32 wickets in 2015. He was a member of the under 13 Sri Lanka pool in 2015 under . Sunil Fernando.

He represented the school under 15 team,and scored 200 runs and claimed 26 wickets in the under 15 tournament in 2016. He represented the Kandy District Centre team and the Central Province under 15 team in the Prima Champions Trophy inter district and inter provincial tournament in 2016. He led the school under 15 team, scored 616 runs and claimed 34 wickets that season. Trinity College Kandy under 15 team entered the pre-quarter finals of the tournament in the same season. He was deputy skipper of the Sri Lanka Schools under 15 team which toured Malaysia in 2017. He led the school in the under 15 tournament in 2017. He led Kandy District Centre and represented the Central Province team in the Prima Champions Trophy inter district and inter provincial tournament in 2017. He made an unbeaten 177 runs in the Under 15 district match against Kandy District Lower in 2017. He scored over 350 runs for Kandy District and over 300 runs for Central Province in two years and took 15 wickets.

He led Trinity under 17 teams in both seasons 2018 and 2019. He scored over 200 runs and claimed 13 wickets in 2018 and scored over 300 runs and took 20 wickets in 2019. Trinity under 17 team advanced to the quarter finals in 2019 under the guidance of senior coach. Kavinda Jayasooriya.

He represented the school first Eleven team in the 2016/17 season at the age of 14 years as a fresher. He scored over 600 runs in the season of 2017/18. 15 year old Abhishek made maiden ton in the under 19 tournament against Nalanda College Colombo. Trinity Kandy was All Island Schools Runners Up that season. He represented Kandy district and Central Province Under 19 teams in 2018 as a 16 year old. He scored over 850 runs with two centuries and claimed 40 wickets in the season of 2018/19. He was adjudged best bowler and man of the match in the One day encounter against St. Anthony’s College Kandy.

He led the Kandy District Green Under 19 team in the inter district tournament 2019. and represented the team Kandy in the Under 19 Super Provincial Tournament in 2019 conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. He won College Colours in 2018 and the most prestigious Trinity Lion for Cricket in 2019.One of the rare people to win a Lion with two years of his school cricket career still left.

Right hand batsman Abhishek scored more than 600 runs with a century and four half centuries in 15 matches. He maintained a 28.82 average. Right arm off-spinner Abhishek captured 71 wickets with 6 five wicket hauls and 2 ten wicket match bags as deputy skipper of the College under 19 team in the season of 2019/20. He captured a rare hat trick against Zahira College Colombo. His best bowling figures in an innings (8/14) and a match bag (14/93) was against Lumbini College Colombo. Trinity College Kandy recorded six outright wins in the season. Trinity entered the quarter final in the two day tournament. He will play in the next school Cricket season of 2020/2021.

He represented Centre of Excellence (Trinity Junior Academy), Kandy Cricket Academy, Fingara Cricket Academy, Old Trinitians SC, Kandy YCC, Tri Youth CC and Kurunegala YCC.

He represented the college in Swimming, Athletics, Music and Speech and Oratory in Sri Lanka Schools Games, Meets and competitions. He was selected as the Best All-round Student of the college in 2011 (Junior School) and 2015 (Middle School). This is a rare achievement for any Trinitian. He is the present Senior Prefect of the College.
