Sachira of St. Thomas, Matara a fine all round display

Eighteen year old, Sachira Rashmika of St. Thomas College Matara gave a fine all round performance in the 2018-20 season of the Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament.

Right hand batsman Sachira Rashmika scored 438 runs and claimed 62 wickets with two five wicket hauls as a right arm off-spinner last season..

. Sachira Rashmika was born on 1st of November in 2002. He attended Ranegoda North Kanishta Vidyalaya in 2008. He completed primary education from his first school. He passed Grade 5 scholarship exam with 169 marks in 2012. and joined St. Thomas College Matara in 2013 in grade Six.

Sachira Rashmika commenced school cricket career under Chaminda Waidyarathne, junior coach in 2014. He represented the college under 13 teams in the seasons of 2014 and 2015. He scored more than 350 runs with two half centuries and claimed 43 wickets in the two seasons. Sachira played school Cricket under Dumindu Hewapathirana in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

He represented the school under 15 teams in two seasons in 2016 and 2017. He claimed 74 wickets and scored 521 runs with two fifties in two under 15 seasons. He represented the Matara district and Southern province under 15 teams in the Prima Champions trophy under 15 inter district and inter provincial tournaments in 2016 and 2017. He led the Matara district team in 2017.

Sachira represented the school first XI team as a fresher in the season of 2016/2017 under Charith Palliyage senior head coach and assistant coaches Duminud Hewapathirana and Dinusha Jayasanka. He claimed only 19 wickets with a five wicket haul in four matches in his first season. His best bowling performance in an innings was 6 for 21 runs against Siri Piyarathana MV Padukka.

St. Thomas College Matara was runner up in the under 19 division Two tournament in 2016/17. St. Thomas Matara was promoted to division One from next season. Sachira Rashmika scored 251 runs and claimed 66 wickets with two five wicket hauls in division One under 19 schools Cricket season 2017/2018. His best bowling performance in an innings was 5 for 84 runs against Devapathiraja College Rathgama.

Sachira Rashmika represented the school under 17 teams in the seasons of 2018 and 2019. He scored 408 runs with two fifties and claimed 46 wickets in the two seasons.

He scored 286 runs and claimed 72 wickets with three five wicket hauls in division One under 19 schools Cricket season of 2018/2019.

His best bowling performance was 6 for 33 runs against St. Sylvester’s College Kandy. He played three seasons of senior Schools cricket under Charith Palliyage senior coach.

He played school senior Cricket under Indika Jayasekara senior coach of the school from under 17 season of 2019. with a fifty. His best batting performance was against D.S. Senanayake College Colombo with 65 runs in the pre quarter final of Two day tournament.

His best bowling performance was 7 for 62 runs against Wesley College Colombo.Sachira steered St. Thomas college to the quarter final.

He passed the O/L exam in 2018 and will sit A/L in the Art stream in 2021. He has captured 219 wickets in four first XI cricket seasons so far.

He can represent the school first XI team in the next two seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22.
