School Captain, Coloursman, Sri Lanka Junior Volleyball Player and Club Player Perumalage Nuwanga Dilshan Fernando brought honour and glory to his Alma Mater Dammissara Maha Vidyalaya Nattandiya. with his deeds on the volleyball court

Nuwanga commenced his schooling in 2005 and his first school was Government Buddhist School Moragella Nattandiya and his Principal was Priyantha Kumara and first class teacher was Mrs. Kamani Sriyalatha. There were no sports during this period in this school but at the age of eight years his father former Volleyball Player of Ceylon Army Services Corps Nishantha Fernando taught him the basics of the game.

Nuwanga was admitted to the Grade Six of Dammissara Vidyalaya in 2010 and attended Volleyball Practices under the then PoG and PTI of the school Keerthi Jayasekera and Channa Jayasekera and got selected to the team and in the same year his school participated in the under 12 Kids Volleyball Tournament conducted by DSI and he was the captain.

In 2012 representing the under 14 team his school won the Divisional, Zonal, District, Provincial and in the DSI Tournament they were the second and in the same year representing the under 15 age limit in the all island they were the runners up. They represented the same performances in the lower divisions in 2013 and won the second place in the DSI Tournament In the All Island they could not come up to expectations in 2014 too after winning the lower tournaments in the under 16 tournament they were the second Runners Up. In 2015 taking part in the under 17 they were the All Island second and in Dayata Kirula Tournament they were placed third.

Nuwanga captained the under 19 All Island Tournament after winning the lower grades in 2016 and were the Runners Up of DSI and All Island Schools Tournaments.

In 2017 they were the DSI Winners and in the All Island they were the Runners Up and in the 2018 All Island Tournament they were the second and he was the captain. In 2018 he toured Bahrain for the Asian Junior Championship and 24 teams participated and Sri Lanka were tenth. In the same year he won the Sri Lanka Junior and School Colours and in the following two years also he was re awarded with school colours.

In club level representing Nattandiya United under Keerthi Jayasekera and Channa a National Player playing in the under 22 Dialog Tournament they were the winners of 2017 and 2018 and second in 2019.

In the Rupavahini Novices under 25 tournament they emerged Champions and Nuwanga was adjudged the Best Server and in the Munchee Novices Tournament 2017 they were the Champions.

Mrs. Manjula Boteju encouraged him along with the then Principal R. K. J. Gunasekera at the beginning and later Sumathipala Silva and Mrs. Sunethra his mother Mrs. M. Nilanthi backed him all the time to achieve success.
