Eighteen year old leg spinner Dineth fine display of bowling

18 years old Dineth Thathsara left arm leg spinner of St. Peter’s College Negombo gave a fine bowling performance in the season of the Under 19 Division Two inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

He was born on 24th October 2002. and was admitted to St. Peter’s College Negombo in 2008. Dineth started his school Cricket at St. Peter’s College Negombo in 2013 under the coach and his father Gihan Sudeepa. He represented Under 13 teams in three seasons from 2013 to 2015. He claimed only 8 wickets in 3 matches in under 13 division Three tournament.

He took 72 wickets in 13 matches and was adjudged best bowler in the under 13 division Three tournament as the skipper. of St. Peter’s College Negombo which was placed third in the division Three tournament in 2014 and they were promoted to division Two tournament in 2015. Dineth Thathsara took 29 wickets in eight matches in the under 13 division Two tournament in 2015.

He took 11 wickets in six matches in the under 15 tournament in 2016. He represented Gampaha district Zone one under 15 team in the Prima Trophy under 15 inter district tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year. Dineth took 51 wickets in 12 matches in the under 15 division Two tournament as the skipper and they were runners up in the tournament in 2017. He represented Gampaha district Zone one under 15 team and Western Province North Outer team in the Prima Trophy under 15 inter district and inter provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year.

14 yearold Dineth represented the school first XI team in the season of 2016/17 as a fresher. He claimed 32 wickets in 11 matches in their under 19 division Two tournament. He took 54 wickets in 13 matches in the season of 2017/18 and represented Western Province under19 team in the SLC inter provincial tournament conducted by SLC in 2018.

He took 21 wickets in under 17 division One tournament and claimed 58 wickets in 14 matches in the under 19 season of 2018/19. He captured 24 wickets in under 17 division One tournament as the skipper.

He claimed 76 wickets in 14 matches with 7 five wicket hauls and two Ten wicket hauls in the season of 2019/20. His best bowling performance in an innings was 7 for 60 runs against Kegalu Vidyalaya. His best bowling performance in a match was 11 for 96 runs against St. Mary’s Chilaw. He claimed 5 wicket hauls against Kegalu Vidyalaya, President’s Rajagiriya, St. Mary’s Chilaw, Sri Devananda Ambalangoda, Anuradhapura Central and Lyceum International School Wattala.

He passed the O/L exam in 2019. and will sit A/L in the Art stream in 2022. He has captured 220 wickets in four first XI cricket seasons so far. He can represent the school first XI team in the next two seasons 2020/21 and 2021/22.
