Netball player Sara Geesarani does her school proud

16 year old Netball Player and Athlete Katupellala Mudiyanselage Sara Geesarani performed well in Netball for her Alma Mater Dammissara National College Nattandiya. When she was admitted to the Grade One of this school her Principal and first class teacher were R. K. W. Gunasekera and Mrs. Mala respectively.

When she was under 10 years she participated in the school Inter House Athletic Sports Meet and she came second in 100 metres and competing in under 12 age group in the following year she came first in 100 metres.

Sara took up to Netball when she was in Grade Six and she came under Mrs. Tricila de Silva, Mrs. Akila and Mrs. Thilina. In 2015 she was the captain of Sooriya House and at the Inter House Netball Tournament her team won the Trophy and with these performances under her belt she got selected to the school under 13 Netball Team and she was appointed as the captain in 2016.

In the Milo Tournament her school came upto Semi Finals and lost to Kalutara Vidyalaya but they became one of the Best 16 teams in the island. In the following year representing the under 15 age group her school came first in the Divisional and Zonal Meets and in 2018 they were the Divisional Champions and in 2019 too they were the under 18 Divisional Champions. Representing the under 16 All Island Girls Milo Tournament they reached up to Quarter Finals. Since 2015 to date she is the captain of the school Netball Teams in various age groups and in 2018 she was awarded school colours at their Colours Award Ceremony and further more she carried away the Best Netball Player’s Award. In addition she took part in the school Sports Meet and she did Relay Events only and she performed well. Her parents K. M. Rasika Jeewana Kelum and Mrs. N. A. J. Dammika Marasinghe have given their maximum support to pursue her career
