Sri Lanka youth player Ahan pride of Royal

Ahan Sanchitha

Wickramasinghe Arachchige Ahan Sanchitha of Royal College Colombo turned in a fine batting performance last season in the Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

Ahan Sanchitha started Cricket under the guidance of Sumith Kumara at his academy in NCC Indoor nets in 2008. He started school cricket in 2012. He was selected to the under 13 ‘C’ team under the guidance of Nimantha Peiris. He made 370 runs with three fifties that season. He was promoted to the under 13 ‘A’ team and he scored over 250 runs with two fifties in 2013. He led the school under 13 ‘A’ team and scored two fifties in 2014. He represented the school under 15 team and scored over 200 runs in 2015. He represented the district team Colombo (South) in the Prima Champions Trophy inter district tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year. He was selected to the school under 19 squad under the guidance of Suranga Wijenayake.

He represented the Sri Lanka Schools under 15 team and toured Malaysia in 2016. He led the school under 15 team under the guidance of Rashan Peiris and scored 270 runs with two fifties and his team advanced to the pre-quarter finals in the under 15 division One tournament. He led the district team Colombo (South) in the Prima Champions Trophy inter district tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in the same year. He represented the school second XI team and scored 930 runs with three centuries and a fifty. He represented the school first XI team as a fresher against Trinity College Kandy. He played Battle of the Blues against S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia in 2017 and the limited over match.

Ahan represented the school under 17 team and they advanced to the semi final of under 17 division One tournament in 2017 under the guidance of Thilina Kandamby.

He scored 340 runs with a century and two half centuries and made a century against Sri Sumangala College Panadura.

He represented the school first XI team in 2017/18 season and scored only 180 runs. He played only limited over big match in 2018.

He represented the school under 17 team in 2018. He scored 180 runs that season. He blossomed out as a batsman and scored 950 runs with three centuries and four half centuries in the first XI season in 2018/19 under the guidance of Jehan Mubarak. He made centuries against P. De S. Kularatne MV Ambalangoda (135), Henegama Central College (116). He made a valuable century against St. Anthony’s College Katugastota (116) in the final and helped Royal to emerge champions of division two limited over tournament in the season of 2018/19. He played annual big match and limited over match. He scored 66 runs against S. Thomas’ College Mount Lavinia in the limited over match.

He represented the Colombo district under 19 team in the inter district tournament. and scored 170 runs in three matches with a century. He represented the champion Colombo, team in the tournament and scored 290 runs with a century and two fifties in four matches in the under 19 Super Provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket. He made unbeaten 127 runs

against team Dambulla in the final. and was selected to the Sri Lanka under 19 squad.

He represented Sri Lanka under 19 team in the Youth Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, tri-nation tournament in West Indies and Youth World cup in South Africa.

He scored 133 runs with a fifty in three matches in the Youth Asia cup. He made a fifty against UAE under 19’s. He made a fifty against England under 19’s in the tri-nation series in West Indies and scored 140 runs in four matches in the Youth World Cup 2020. He made two half centuries against New Zealand and Scotland.

He scored 425 runs in only seven matches with a century and two half centuries in the under 19 season 2019/20.

He missed many school matches due to national duty. He made 113 runs against Prince of Wales College. He was adjudged best fielder of the 141st Battle of the Blues 2020.

He will represent Royal College Colombo in the next schools cricket season.

He played three big matches and four limited over matches against S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia. and played in the under 23 tournament for SSCfor two seasons 2019 and 2020.
