Guruge Vidura Prabath Perera commenced his schooling at Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Bandaragama entering the school in 2005 when Ven. Somalankara Thero was the Principal of the school.
He started his volleyball career from his village volleyball club namely Gamini Sports Club as an under 13 boy and came under Omal Chandrasekera. When he was at school in the same age group he came under Jagath Pushpakumara and representing his Alma Mater they won the under 13 Divisional and Zonal Tournaments but they were unsuccessful at the Provincial Tournament and in the following year too representing under 15 team his school won the Divisional and Zonal Championships.
He shifted to Rajasinghe Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Ruwanwella in 2017 and he walked into the under 18 team with ease of his new school and they won the Divisional, Zonal, District and Provincial Tournaments. Representing in the DSI Challenge Trophy Volleyball Tournament in 2017 they came up to Runners Up and Vidura was adjudged as the Best Player and in the following year in the same tournament they were the Runners Up and Vidura carried away the Best Players Award.
In the year 2018 Rajasinghe Vidyalaya became the All Island Schools Champions and Vidura was adjudged as the Best Player of the tournament and in the All Island Tournament in 2019 his school won the third place. He was selected to the Western Province team in 2019 and they were the Champions of the National Senior Youth Festival Tournament. In the same year he played for the Ceylon Electricity Board Team in the Munchee Volleyball tournament and they secured the fourth place and playing in the DSI Inter Schools Championship they were the Champions.
Under these circumstances Vidura was well supported by the Principal of the school S. L. Harischandra, the Prefect of the Games L. R. C. Polgampala and the coach Chaminda Kumara Jayaratne. With these performances under his belt Vidura was selected to represent the country as a High Attacker in the Sri Lanka under 20 Junior Volleyball Team to Bahrain and 24 countries participated and Sri Lanka Team got the 9th place and Vidura was awarded with Sri Lanka Junior Colours in Volleyball.
