DSS skipper Muditha passes 1000 runs for second year

Muditha Lakshan skipper of D.S. Senanayake College Colombo passed the 1000 runs milestone in the second successive year of the ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 Division One inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament.     

Right hand batsman and left arm leg spinner MUditha Lakshan scored 1034 runs in 21 innings with four centuries and three half centuries in 2019/2020 season. His bets batting performance in the season was against Thurstan College Colombo with unbeaten 203 runs. He made centuries against Maris Stella Negombo, St. Joseph’s Colombo and Royal Colombo. He claimed more than 40 wickets. Muditha Lakshan commenced his cricket career at D.S. Senanayake in 2011. Muditha Lakshan scored only 200 runs and took 15 wickets in under 13 seasons. He scored 350 runs and took 38 wickets in two seasons of under 15. He scored 470 runs and took 35 wickets in under 17 seasons.

15-year-old Muditha Lakshan represented the college first XI team and scored 350 runs and took 38 wickets in 2015/2016 season. He scored 500 runs and took 70 wickets in 2016/2017 season as a second year player. He scored 850 runs and claimed 67 wickets in 2017/2018 season. He scored 1318 runs with 4 centuries and claimed 57 wickets in 2018/2019 season. Muditha Lakshan represented Sri Lanka under 19 team against India in 2018.

He thanks the present Principal Prasanna Upashantha and college staff, G.K.D.L. Chickera (Master In Charge), present coach Nishantha Hennayke, assistant coaches Ramesh Perera, Mohammed Azhar and Tharindu Jayamha. 

He also thanks former principals of his school, Master In Charges, his coaches Nevil Fernando, Anoj Fernando, Kelum, Kolitha Happuarachchi, Sujeewa Priyadharshana, Dilan Ramanayake, Hasith Dilhara, Dinesh Weerasinghe, Dinuka Perera, Karthik Selwam, Lalanga Rajapaksha and Jayathu Neelaweera, former master in charges Nihal Fernando, Old boys association and his team members.
