All country's sport associations have to conduct their elections on or before August 31 and the associations failed to do so will get under the Sport Director General said senior official of the Sport Ministry. If they will unable to conduct their elections on schedule period they have to submit reasonable excuses to the Sport Development Department which headed by Sports Director General who is the authority for the National sport body elections.
The sport Ministry official also said that 24 sports associations are yet to conduct the elections before deadline. Earlier the final date for the elections was fell on May 31 but it was postpone to August 31 due to the Covid 19 epidemic. However Ministry already learnt that most of the sport bodies are still getting prepared for their elections.
Especially due to the present situation in the country several sports bodies have neglected to make arrangements for the elections.
The members should give 55 days prior notice on the elections and that deadline is already exceeded now.
The sport Ministry has sent guidelines including 15 important points for the conduct of elections to all sport bodies in February and asked the sports bodies to send their replies.
Meanwhile some officials of the sports bodies pointed out the forthcoming General election on August 5 is one reason for delay their activities. Normally Sport bodies have to submit their financial reports to Auditor General's approval prior to elections and most of the previous times sport bodies have failed to do this on time. As a result Sport Ministry has to appoint interim bodies to continue activities of the respective sport bodies until conduct of the elections properly.
