Mahanama’s Pawan scores unbeaten twin tons

Pawan Ratnayake of Mahanama College scored unbeaten twin tons against Prince of Wales College Moratuwa in their ‘Singer Trophy’ Under 19 inter-schools cricket match which ended in a draw at CCC ground yesterday.

Ratnayake scored and unbeaten 200 off 288 balls (22 fours) in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 100 in the second innings to carry his tally of centuries for the season to six.

At Thurstan ground 24 wickets fell on the opening day in the match between Thurstan and Dharmapala. Thurstan’s Nipun Kanchana took 6 wickets for 20 runs to bowl Dharmapala out for 56 and in reply Dineth Nelumdeniya of Dharmapala took 7 wickets for 81 runs to dismiss Thurstan for 248. Dharmapala in their second innings were 32-4.

Meanwhile, Tissa Central College Kalutara piled up a first day total of 429/9 wickets against Sri Dharmaloka Kelaniya at Kalutara.
