Fine century by Cambrian Kavinda

A magnificent chanceless 135 runs by all rounder Kavinda de Mel helped Prince of Wales College to beat Royal College Colombo by 96 runs on first innings in their inter-school under 19 cricket tournament match conducted by Sri Lanka schools cricket Association. By virtue of this win Cambrians have booked a berth in the quarter finals and this game was worked off at Colombo.

Kavinda hit thirteen fours and one over and occupied the crease for 324 minutes and faced 249 balls. Also he was associated in a seventh wicket partnership of 107 runs with Ashan Fernando who contributed 27 runs. Kavindu has so far scored 450 runs in twelve matches. Also he has taken 35 wickets with his right arm off spin.

Taking the first lease Royalists scored 215 runs with a brilliant 113 runs by Ashan Wickramasinghe and in reply visitors made 311 runs and at stumps homesters were 70 for no loss.

Prince of Wales’ College – 311 in 47.5 overs – (Kavinda de Mel 135, Ashan Fernando 27, Vidath Dinendra 39 n/o, Pasindu Pathum 23, Tarindu Amerasinghe 21, Geeshan Balasuriya 5/79, Thevindu Senarathne 2/27, Lahiru Madushanka 2/45).
