Dialog Axiata PLC, Sri Lanka’s premier connectivity provider, has once again came forward to give their support to boost Sri Lanka Netball with the sponsorship of the Senior and Junior National championships. This will be the second consecutive year Dialog associates with the Netball National championships.
A record number of 42 teams will battle for the Dialog championship at the Junior National Netball championship which will be held from November 30 to December 2 at Torrington grounds at Colombo while 18 teams will vie for the Senior National Championship scheduled to be held on December 14 and 15 at Anuradhapura Public grounds and North Central Indoor Stadium.
National Netball Federation President Victoria Lakshmi said the two key tournaments are very important to all players to show their talents and it will be a guide to make selection for the National pools. “We have a big task to go beyond the Asian level. We already won Asian championships five times, including last year, and want to keep our place as well as win at least two matches at the World Cup. I have good supporting members in my administrative party and they also work hard to get successful results,” she said.
The netball chief further said: “Dialog the sponsors is always a good strength to netball and without their support we can’t conduct this Nationals successfully.”
Harsha Samaranayake Senior General Manager Brand and Media Group Marketing Dialog Axiata said they are very keen to support the number one ladies sport. “We like to see our netball players coming up with our support. The Asian champions once again come up with good preparation to get their target and we wish them to get all success with our support,” said Samaranayake.
