Valaichchenai Al-Mina SC limited over champs

The Al-Mina Sports Club of Valaichchenai became champions in the eight- a-side limited overs cricket tournament conducted by the Alamkulam Al-Aqsha Sports Club which was held at the Rahmaniya Vidyalaya playgrounds in Alamkulam recently.

The Alamkulam Al-Aqsha Sports Club officials organised the tournament with the sponsorship of the All Ceylon YMMA Conference Addalaichenai branch, to mark the completion of 18 years of the club. Prominent teams took part in the tournament.

The Valaichchenai Al-Mina Sports Club beat Sammanthurai Ever Bright Sports Club by 18 runs in the final. Valaichchenai Al-Mina SC Team won the toss and batted first, Al-Mina SC scored 55 runs for loss of 6 wickets in their allocated 5 overs. In reply, Sammanthurai Ever Bright SC, scored 37 runs in the 5 overs. Winners were awarded the champion trophy and an Rs.12,000.00 cash prize by the Chief Guest All Ceylon YMMA Conference Addalaichenai Branch President M.I.M. Riyas.

The runner-up team, Sammanthurai Ever Bright Sports Club was awarded a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and the trophy was presented by the Guest of Honour by Addalaichenai Pradeshiya (PS) Member S.K.Mohamed.

The Addalaichenai Rahmaniya Vidyalaya Principal M.A.C. Ubaithullah, Al-Aqsha SC officials and cricket players were all present.
