Pramuka Sesath riding to glory at Pannala

Ashan Silva and Pramuka Sesath bagged the Best Driver and Best Rider trophies respectively at the Sri Lanka Super Series 2017 final round conducted by the Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR) in collaboration with Colombo Motor Sports Club (CMSC) at the Speed Drome Race Track in Pannala recently.

The meet was held as a day and night contest and 15 driving and eight riding events were conducted.

Ashan Silva won the AMG Trophy being the Best Driver winning both races of SL/GT 3500 cc event while Pramuka Sesath won the Mobil Trophy being the Best Rider winning the STD/MOD 250 cc Super Sport Open event.

Ashan Silva won both race of SL/GT 3500 event consisted of eight rounds, while Indian driver Gaurav Gill won the second place in the first race and Sajaad Zuhair won the second place in the second race. Manish Goonetilleke won the third place in both races.

STD/MOD 250 cc Super Sport event saw Pramuka winning the first place, Lathika Shamal and Chaminda de Silva won second and third places respectively.

SL/N Ford Laser Mazda 1300 cc and 1500 cc events were the most participated events and more than 40 drivers competed. Senal Gunawardane won the SL/N Ford Laser Mazda 1300 cc event, while Imesh Silva won the second place. Shenal Gunawardena’s father Susantha Gunawardena won the SL/N Ford Laser Mazda 1500 cc event while Shenal secured the second place.

Michael Wijesuriya won the both 1500 cc event and 1618 cc event. Sithara Peiris won the second place and veteran driver S Mannapperuma won the third place.

Zaakir Wahab became second place in 1618 cc event.

Mallika Kuruvitaarachi, who led the SL/H 2000 cc Subaru Legacy event throughout the Super Series had to be satisfied with the second place this time. Malinda Gunasekara won the race and Buddika Ruklantha won the third place.

Hansika Abeysinghe won the both 125 cc (4T) Mono Cylinder event and STD/MOD 125-160 cc (4T) event. Shiran Samuel and Vinula Pathirage won second places respectively in the both races.

Ashan Silva drove away the Kia Picanto car for the overall Best Driver, while the Honda Hornet motorcycle for the overall Best Rider was awarded to Ishan Dassanayake. Abhaya and Company was the main sponsor of the meet while Vision Care, Kia Motors (Ceylon) and Stafford Motors were the co-sponsors.
