The Trinity College Under 18 and senior ruggerites have started physical training under the guidance of renowned rugby coaches Kavinda Jayasena and Thusitha de Silva. This year, school rugby was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trinity College has been known as the cradle of Sri Lanka schools rugby and has produced many outstanding ruggerites. Their Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage, headed by Channa Pathirana, is packed with former top players: Vice-Presidents Ashan Ratwatte and Thakshala Hettiarchchi, Secretary Amil Ramanathan, Treasurer Asanka Ranhotti, as well as Janindra Dunuwille, Nilantha Ratnayake, M.T.L.J. Perera, Harris Omar, Murad Ramzeen, D.N.R. Fernando, Thusith Inok, Lakmal Tennakoon, and S.W. Chang.
There are different workout programmes and speed workshops that players can do to increase speed and strength; as long as they are putting time off the field to good use, they'll reap the rewards.
Coach Kavinda Jayasena, who was the overall rugby manager of the Trinntians last season, is a former Sri Lanka player and IRB match commissioner.
Coach Thusitha de Silva played for Trinity as a back-division player and later, for Kandy SC.
