Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Media Assistant Chanaka Silva passed away at the age of 40 following a sudden illness on Thursday.
The former schoolboy of Dharmapala MV, Kalutara was a livewire in the Media Unit of SLC, playing a key role in handling the media-related work of SLC and the cricketers.
A resident of Katukurunda, Kalutara, he was of great assistance to all the media personnel during international matches, ensuring they got all what is required to work in the comfort of the media box.
Chanaka has been a media assistant since 2012, having joined SLC in 2000. He was later assigned to the Surrey Cricket Ground in Maggona by SLC.
He leaves behind his wife, son and daughter. (D.R)
