Oshini clinches FIDE U-10 Chess Title

Sri Lanka’s promising chess player Oshini Gunawardena clinched the Under-10 title at the Online FIDE World Youth Chess Championship, which concluded yesterday.

The nine-year-old from Ferguson High School, Ratnapura defeated Megan Althia Paragua of the US convincingly in the final to claim the Championship.

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL) presented a cash award of Rs. 100,000 to Oshini while her coach Akila Kavinda received a cash award of Rs. 50,000. (D.R)
