Sri Lanka Squad for World Junior Meet in Kenya

Medhani Jayamanne will compete in the 100m and 200m

Sri Lanka Athletics have named two coaches Umanga Surendra and Dhanushka Munasinghe to accompany the Sri Lanka Team for the World Junior Athletic Championship from August 17 to 22 at the Nyayo Sports Complex in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Sri Lankan Athletic Team is scheduled to leave for Kenya on August 15.

Seven junior athletes have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at this meet in the 4x400m mixed relay, Women’s 100m, 200m, Men’s 400m, and Women’s 800m events. Sports Medical Unit Dr Dhammika Senanayake will accompany the Sri Lanka Team as the COVID Liaison Officer in addition to Jagath Silva (Manager) and Sunethra Karunanayake (Lady Chaperone).

The Sri Lanka Team:

(Men): Isuru Abeywardena (Ananda Sasthralaya, Matugama), U. B. M. R. D. Bandara (Wekada MV) and H. H. R. S. Jayasundara (Sir John Kotelawala MV).

(Women): Shanika Lakshani (Holy Cross, Gampaha), D. M. T. D. Karunaratne (A. Rathnayake MV, Walala), Medhani Jayamanne (Lumbini College), Sayuri Mendis (Holy Cross, Gampaha).
