Senaka Peiris - talented cricketer and rugby player

Senaka Peiris was a talented cricketer and a rugby player, who represented Dharmaraja College with distinction.

He started his cricket career under the guidance of Coach late T. M. A. Cooray under the captaincy of Rasika Gajaweera.

He played club cricket under Krishantha Gunawardena from 1994 to 2004 and represented the Central Hill Club and played in the Division Three Cricket Tournament. He was appointed Captain of the Central Hill Cricket Team from 1993 to 1996 and during this period he led his team to qualify for the second round of the Division Three Cricket Tournament.

After playing for the Central Hill Club for more than a decade he started playing for the Old Rajans CC under Ranjith Herath and also played for Bloomfield under E. M. U. Chandrathilaka.

He scored 84 against Old Sylvestrians CC and scored 67 against the Old Antonians CC in the Division Three Cricket Tournament in 2016 and had the opportunity to captain the Old Rajans CC in 2015.

As a rugby player, he represented Dharmaraja in 1986 and in the same year he represented the Kandy Lions and was promoted to play for Kandy SC under C. S. Ekanayake.

His rugby coaches were C. H. Seneviratne, Nihal Gunaratne, Alex Lazarus and Nimal Malagamuwa.
