Herath’s success in Tokyo no surprise to coach

Dinesh Herath with his coach Pradeep Nishantha

Veteran coach Pradeep Nishantha said that he was not surprised with Dinesh Priyantha Herath’s record-breaking performance at the 16th Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan yesterday.

“I knew about his ability well and his dedication was always very high and he was determined to win this medal,” Nishantha told the Daily News yesterday.

“He has been training with me for the last five years after the Rio Olympics.”

“When he achieved his personal best of 62.58m in his first attempt I was confident that he would establish a new world record.”

“I knew that he had the potential to break the world record and improve his throwing distance at the Tokyo Games,” Nishantha added. (D.R)
