Bangladesh Captain, Tamim Iqbal, has cautioned his team against complacency ahead of the three-match One-Day International (ODI) series against the visiting Sri Lanka side, due to start on Sunday.
The hosts have been fortified with the inclusion of Shakib Al Hasan, back into the national fold, after missing out on the white-ball tour of New Zealand and will start the series as favourites, against a depleted and inexperienced Sri Lankan unit.
''Naturally experience matters but at the end of the day you will have to perform because you will have to take the game to that point when experience will come into play,'' Tamim said in a chat with the media. "We have played against them (Sri Lanka) at various levels previously and we are aware that it won't be easy. We have to be at more than a hundred percent to beat them,'' he added.
Tamim also confirmed that Shakib will bat at three - a position where he excelled during the 2019 World Cup but the Bangladesh captain insisted that it would be foolhardy to expect the star all-rounder to play in the same vein.
''Shakib will bat at three,'' he said. "I have full trust in his ability but at the same time everyone needs to understand that what he did in the World Cup was exceptional (scoring 600 runs in eight games).”
