Mathivanan camp withdraws from SLC election

K. Mathivanan, Bandula Warnapurea and Nishantha Ranatunga yesterday decided to withdraw from contesting the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) election, which is scheduled for Thursday.

Mathivanan was set to contest for the post of President, Warnapura for the post of Vice-President and Ranatunga for the post of Secretary respectively.

In a joint statement addressed to the SLC Election Committee, the trio announced that they are ‘reluctantly compelled to withdraw from the election.’

The statement further said: “It was with a sense of optimism, enthusiasm and expectations that the three of us decided to contest for the posts of President, Vice-President and Secretary respectively.”
