Didn't change plan despite Hasaranga's cameo - Mehidy

Bangladesh off-spinner Mehidy Hasan insisted that he did not alter his bowling plan and just focused on containing the batsmen that eventually proved to be effective in the three-match series opener against Sri Lanka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.

Mehidy took four for 30 to wreck Sri Lanka's top order and put Bangladesh on course to defend their total of 257 for six.

Mehidy played a crucial role as he dismissed Danushka Gunathilaka, Kusal Perera, Dhananjaya de Silva and Ashen Bandara after that put Sri Lanka on the backfoot.

''All I tried to do was to contain the runs and bowled dot balls because if the batsmen make mistakes, there is a higher chance of earning success,'' Mehidy told reporters after the game.

''Hasaranga batted very well and was hitting cleanly but we always believed that if a wicket falls, we would get back into the match,'' said Mehidy.

"The only thing in our mind was that whenever the wicket falls we would come back because after that there was no batsman as that was their last pair," he added.
