Leg-spinner Dewnuwan Jayawardena returned fine figures of four for 22 as Sri Jayewardenepura MV, Kotte clinched the Under-19 Division Two Tier ‘B’ Cricket Tournament while recording a thrilling five-run win over Royal College, Panadura in the final played at the BRC Grounds yesterday.
Sri Jayewardenepura MV were 47 for six wickets at one stage but Jayandu Sankalpa made a fighting 50 in 138 balls with four fours to build up their total to 136.
Royal, Panadura chasing their target lost wickets at regular intervals and they were bowled out for 131 in 46.3 overs with Jayawardena causing most of the damage.
Meanwhile, two schools from Panadura, Sri Sumangala and St. John’s will clash in the Under-19 Division Two Tier ‘A’ final at the BRC Grounds today.
Sri Sumangala defeated Holy Cross, Kalutara while St. John’s beat Lyceum, Wattala in their respective semi-finals.
