Ranthushka, Dilmi bag All-Island shuttle titles

Ranthushka Karunathilake and Dilmi Dias emerged Men’s and Women’s champions at the Summer Season All-Island Open Badminton Tournament, which concluded at the Municipal Council Indoor Stadium in Nuwara Eliya yesterday.

In the Men’s Singles final, Karunathilleka beat Buwaneka Gunathilleka 10-21, 21-19, 21-19 after a hard fought battle.

Meanwhile, former National champion Dias had an easy game defeating Ranithma Liyanage 21-10, 21-15 in the Women’s Singles final.

The Women’s Doubles title was won by Kavindika de Silva and Dlimi Dias with the pair defeating Buddhi Galagamage and Nadeesha Gayanathi.

Men’s Singles: Ranthushka Karunathilleka beat Buwaneka Gunathilleka 10-21, 21-19, 21-19.

Women’s Singles: Dilmi Dias beat Ranithma Liyanage 21-10, 21-15.

Men’s Doubles: Buwaneka Gunathilleka and Ranthushka Karunathilleka beat Hasitha Chanaka and Clarence Hormer 21-10, 21-12.

Women’s Doubles: Kavindika de Silva and Dlimi Dias beat Buddhi Galagamage and Nadeesha Gayanthi 21-9, 21-15.

Mixed Doubles: Buwaneka Gunathilleka and Nadeesha Gayanthi beat Lahiru Weerasinghe and Madushka Dilrukshi 21-14, 21-13.
