142nd Battle of the Blues postponed for the safety of players

The Royal-Thomian joint match organizing committee along with the heads of the two schools have decided to postpone the 142nd Royal-Thomian cricket match.

Health and safety of the players has been of paramount importance for the two schools and match organizing committee. During the stringent health protocols that were implemented to ensure the safety of the players, coaching teams and match officials in line with the approved guidelines of the Ministry of Health, 4 players from S. Thomas’ College Mt. Lavinia were found to be positive for Covid-19.

All measures have been taken for the well-being of the 4 players as well as the balance squad according to Health and Safety guidelines and protocols under the supervision of the PHIs and health officials.

The Heads of the two Schools and the Joint Match Organizing Committee has unanimously agreed to postpone the match in adherence to the circular issued by the Ministry of Health to cancel all public and private events and gatherings in the country until 31st May 2021.
