Two spectacular goals in the second half helped Ratnam SC edge out Blue Star SC 2-0 in their Pre-League Football Tournament match played at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo yesterday.
A goal early in the second half by V. Jackson followed by another goal few minutes before the final whistle by Rajakumar Shanthan helped Ratnam SC notch-up a well deserved win.
It was Jackson who broke the deadlock, after a barren first half where both teams failed to improvise in scoring.
However, off a well-executed pass from the right flank, Jackson chipped in with a left-footer, bisecting the rival goal-keeper Kavesh Lakpriya to score the first goal.
Then, Shanthan sealed the game for Ratnam SC with a well measured kick in the dying stages of the game.
Meanwhile, in the matches played on Saturday, Colombo FC defeated the star-studded Up-Country Lions SC 3-1 while the Defenders SC beat Red Star SC 2-1.
