Kasun Abeyratne celebrates his half century

Lankan CC put up a stunning performance to beat the favourites SSC by 59 runs in the SLC Under-23 Major Youth Cricket Tournament final worked off at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place yesterday.
After compiling a formidable 223 in 49.2 overs, Lankan CC produced a splendid bowling performance on the field to dismiss their opponents to 164 runs in 44.3 overs and claim their maiden Under-23 title. Lankan CC, showed a lot of determination from the start as they batted quite intelligently to finish with a match winning score after they were invited to bat first.
Kasun Abeyratne played the sheet anchor role with a solid half-century with Kevin Perera (40), Damitha Silva (30) and Lahiru Dilshan (22) providing the back up support.
The season campaigner Sammu Ashan (3/31), Dilum Thilakarathna (3/35) and Kalana Perera (2/50) shared the wickets for the SSC.
However, the Lankan CC bowlers made run making difficult for the SSC batsmen by claiming wickets at regular intervals through Dunith Wellalage (3/29), Yasiru Rodrigo (2/23), Sawan Kankanamge (2/9) and Sandun Sathsara (2/29).
SSC’s key player Sammu Ashan was the only batsman to provide any real resistance as he went on to complete a battling half century.
