Roshantha Mathew a fine karateka and athlete

Karate Black Belt and Gold Medalist Athlete, Cricketer, Volleyball and Elle Player Roshantha Vikasitha Dinantha Mathew brought honour and fame to his school Lourdes College Nattandiya. He was admitted to the school in 2009 when Mr. Molligoda was the Principal and he took part at the Inter House Athletic Meet as an under eleven competitor and won the 80 metres and came third in High Jump and in the under 13 age group he was second in 80 metres

In 2018 his parents Muthukumar Dilan Roshantha and Padmanathan Nirosha Darshani admitted their son to a private Karate Academy and he came under coach Sugath Kumara. It was in 2016 as an under 12 competitor he won a Gold Medal for Kumite in the Puttalam District Tournament and in the same year at the North Western Provincial Meet he got a Silver Medal for Kata and a Bronze for Kumite and in the All Island Meet he won a Silver for Kata.

Participating in the under 14 age group in Karate in 2017 he won Golds for Kumite and Kata in the Puttalam District Tournament and in the North Western Province meet he won Gold Medals for Kumite and Kata and in the All Island Meet he obtained Bronzes for both these events. In his second year in under 14 in 2018 he won a Gold for Kumite at the District Meet and a Gold in Kumite at the NWP Meet and in the All Island too he won a Gold Medal.

In the under 16 age category in 2019 he got two Golds for Kumite and Kata at the District Level and at the NWP Meet he won a Gold for Kata and a Silver for Kumite and during the span of four years he has won 18 medals in Karate with 12 Golds two Silvers and four Bronzes and his teacher in charge for Karate is Mrs. Ushani Dhammika.

Last year he participated in the school sports meet and came third in 1500 metres race as an under 16 competitor and same year he took part in the under 20 age group in volleyball, cricket and elle at the house level and he is the Games Captain of the school. His Prefect of Games Mrs. Priyanka, and Principal P. S. Fernando are always supportive of him.
