Roshan Mahanama presents a parcel of provisions to senior scorer Keerthi Ranasuriya.

Former Sri Lanka Cricketer and ICC match refree Roshan Mahanama said that Cricket administrators were duty bound to look after it’s key stake holders such as umpires, coaches and scorers in addition to the players. Mahanama made this comment after distributing provisions and cash awards to full time scores and umpires on Wednesday (27) afternoon.

Mahanama said that there was an abundance of talented cricketers in Sri Lanka but was sadened to observe that they had not been guided in the proper manner. He said that he even detested to watch the game even on TV. “We should all remember that we are representing our motherland” he added.

On being informed of the plight full time scores were facing due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, founder of the Sam T Foundation (USA) former S. Thomas’ College, Mt Lavinia cricketer Samuel Prakash Thevanayagam donated US$ 3000 to the Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers Association (SLCSA) to be utilized for the wellbeing of their full time scores.

The donation was made in memory of former Thomian cricketing greats Sashi Ganeshan and Guy de Alwis.
