Sri Lanka Volleyball player and Athlete Kanahelage Thilini Wasana Perera has brought Honour and Glory to her Alma Mater Anamaduwa Central College

She was admitted to Grade One of Homagama Central College in 2001 and her first class teacher was Mrs. Shiranthi. When she was under 11 she participated at the school Inter House Sports Meet in 75 and 100 metres and High Jump and came first and in Divisional, Zonal and Provincial she was the Champion Athlete and in the under 13 and 15 age groups too she swept the board in the same events and became the Champion Athlete and her Teacher In Charge of Sports was Mrs. Asanthi. In addition she took part in Volleyball under Mrs. Asanthi and her team won the Inter House Divisional and Zonal Tournaments.
In 2011 she got a Sports Scholarship to Anamaduwa Central College and in the same year she was selected to the under 17 Volleyball Team and continuously played for the under 17, 18 and 19 Teams and in all these age groups her school won in the Lower Tournaments and in 2010. She was selected for 16th Asian Junior Womens Championship in Vietnam and 13 teams participated and Sri Lanka finished in 10th place. In 2011 and 2012 in the DSI Schools’ Tournament she was adjudged the Best Player and her school clinched the All Island Championship.
There too she was selected as the Best Player. In 2014 she was selected to the National team and toured Nepal for the South Asian Games and in 2015 she toured with the National Team to 9th Asian Senior Championship in China and in 2016 she toured India for the South Asian Games at which Sri Lanka won a Silver Medal.
In 2017 she participated for the Asian Tour in Philippines and in 2018 for the Asian Tour and she was the Vice Captain of the Tour to Kazakhstan and in 2019 she toured Korea with the Senior Team and for the SAG Games in Nepal at which Sri Lanka won a Bronze Medal.
She joined the Sri Lanka Army in 2015 and representing the under 25 age group she won the Best Players Award in the Rupavahini Tournament and in 2017 and 2018 Sri Lanka Army became the Runners up in the All Island National Tournament at the Inter Services Meets in 2016, 2018 and 2020 Sri Lanka Air Force beat them and they were the Runners Up. They are coached by Sergeant Tissera and their Chairman of Volleyball is Brigadier Mahesh Abeyratne. Whilst at Anamaduwa Central her coach was Sumeda Wimalaweera and Mrs. Ishanka Balasuriya was the teacher In charge of Volleyball.
