Sports promoter Dr. Neil Halpe no more

Former Trinity College Old Boys Association President and sports promoter Dr. Neil Halpe made his last journey yesterday Monday, two days after his death.

The cremation took place at Mahaiyawa Cemetery at 6.30 pm. He was a good sports lover and promoter and gave his best of support to the needy sportsmen.

He was one time a member of the Board of Governors of Trinity College and Trustee of the TCK OBA and member of the Old Trinitians SC. During his presidency of the Old Boys Association he gave his best for sports promotion. In 1960 he was the senior prefect of the school and Ryde house president in 1960. He was a keen follower of the cue game and took part in Billiards.

He also did sports for the University. DR. Neil Halpe is survived by his wife Menaka and two children Kusal and Sarana. Before his cremation his body was brought to the Trinity College chapel.

He was a consultant obstetrician and gynecologist and a former president of the Alumini Association of the University of Peradeniya.
