Sports Ministry officials head by Director General of Department of Sports Development, Amel Edirisinghe made an inspection tour to the Weber Stadium, Batticaloa yesterday (03).
The present condition of the stadium, pavilion, swimming pool, indoor stadium and the ground were inspected by the officials. Issues regarding maintenance and development of the sports venues were discussed .
A meeting was held with the Batticaloa Municipality officials who are maintaining the stadium, following the inspection tour with the participation of district sports officers and the Batticaloa Government Agent K.Karunakaran at the district secretariat.
Suggestions and requests regarding the development of the stadium were submitted to the Director General of Department of Sports Development.
Additional Government Agent Navarubaranjani Mugunthan, Assistant Government Agent A.Naveswaran, Municipal Commissioner K.Cithravel, Sports Standing Committee Chairman V.Poopalaraja, Director of Department of Sports Development I.P.Wijeyaretna, Provincial Director of Sports M.N.Nowfel, Officer of District Sports Development M.Y.Athamlebbai and Sports Officer V.Easwaran were present on the occasion .
