Sokian skipper Kavindu Nadeeshan picked for Lanka Premier League

Nineteen year old All rounder M.W. Kavindu Nadeeshan skipper of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda and Sri Lanka youth cap had the honour of being selected for the squad of Dambulla Viikings in the Inaugural Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament. Kavindu played only two matches in the Under 19 division One tournament in 2019/2020 season conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket association due to national duty with Sri Lanka under 19 team Kavindu Nadeeshan had his primary education at P. De S. Kularatne MV Ambalangoda.

He passed the Grade 5 scholarship exam and joined Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda.

He started Cricket at the Cricket academy of Singha Sports Club and Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda in 2011 under the guidance of coach Suraj Sanjeewa.

Kavindu represented the school under 13 team in 2012 and 2013 of Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda.

He joined Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda in 2014 and he represented the all-island runner up under 13 team of Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda under the coaches Viraj Chaminda and Saman Lashinka in the same year.

He made a century and took 5 wickets with a hat-rick in the final. He scored more than 600 runs and claimed 50 wickets in the under 13 tournament in 2014.

He was adjudged best all-rounder in the tournament.

Kavindu Nadeeshan represented the school under 15 team in two seasons in 2015 and 2016. He represented the college under 19 team as a fresher in the season of 2015/16 under the guidance of Isuru Anushka and Thilan Madhuranga.

He captured 60 wickets and he was the highest wicket taker in the school side.

He represented Sri Lanka Schools under 15 team on the tour of Malaysia in 2016.

He represented the Galle district team (Zone III) and Southern Province team in the Prima Trophy inter district tournament and inter provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket.

Kavindu claimed 70 wickets in the under 19 season of 2016/2017. He scored 500 runs and captured 60 wickets in the season of 2017/18. He was adjudged best batsman of the annual big match in 2018. He scored 630 runs and took 60 wickets with 5 five wicket hauls in the season of 2018/19.

Kavindu and his elder brother Dinuka Dilshan led the college first XI team.

Kavindu represented the Kandy team in the under 19 Super provincial tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2019.

Kavindu was selected to the Sri Lanka under 19 squad in 2019.

He represented Sri Lanka under 19’s against Pakistan under 19’s, Youth Asia Cup (in Sri Lanka), Bangladesh, Sri Lanka - West Indies - England tri-nation series (West Indies) and Youth World Cup (South Africa).

He was the highest wicket-taker in the Tri-nation tournament in West Indies in 2019.

He took 30 wickets in 17 Youth ODI’s. He scored 1359 runs with five half centuries and captured 183 wickets in five seasons in his school cricket career in the first XI.

He represented CCC in the Major league inter Club tournament and 19 year old Kavindu made a century against Army CC. He represented the SLC Board XI against West Indies and England.

He represented SSC in the Under 23 inter club cricket tournament in 2020.
