Kandy lament for ‘Raja’s demise

Sakari “Raja” Sivapalan who was Kandy Sports Club’s ball picker and water boy, who did the service for free died December 10 after suffering from diabetes. The funeral took place on Friday (11) at the Mahiyawa General Cemetery. Most rugby loving people will remember the way he helped Kandy Sports Club at matches and practices. He was ardent supporter and never missed a game in Colombo. He is an old boy of Cymas College, Kandy where he played football at junior level.

Tributes have been paid to “Raja”, who was best known for helping at rugby matches played at Nittawela. His sudden death is a shock, for the rugby lovers in Kandy.

Raja who was 52, will be sorely missed by his wives Theresa and Chandrakala, the four children Yogaswari, Vinodani, Sangetha, Krishanthi and friends.
