Jimutha Eranga - prolific run getter for Taxila Central

Jimutha Eranga left hand top order batsman, wicket keeper and part time right arm off spinner of Taxila Central College Horana gave a fine batting performance in the last season of the Under-19 Division Two inter Schools Cricket (Two day) tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

He was born on 3rd October 2003 at Horana. He attended Royal College Horana for his primary education in 2008. He studied from grade 1 to grade 3 at the school. He passed Grade 5 Scholarship exam in 2013.and joined Taxila Central College in 2014. He started school Cricket career in under 13 level at Taxila Central College Horana. He represented the college under 13 team in three seasons 2014, 2015 and 2016. He scored 450 runs with a century and two half centuries as. skipper of the team in 2016. He made unbeaten 142 runs in 51 balls against St. Anthony’s College Panadura in the same year. 13 year old Eranga represented the school first XI team as a fresher and wicket keeper in the season of 2016/2017.

He represented the school under 15 team (division two) in 2017 and 2018. He scored 470 runs with a century and two half centuries in 2017. He represented Kalutara district team in the Prima Champions Trophy Inter district tournament and Western Province South Outer team in the Prima Champions Trophy Inter province tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Cricket in 2017. He passed 300 runs in the under 19 season in 2017/2018 as a second year player. He scored 550 runs with 5 half centuries in the under 15 tournament in 2018. He led Kalutara district (Zone 1) team in the Prima Champions Trophy Inter district tournament in 2018. He scored more than 600 runs with a century and two half centuries in the season of 2018/2019. His best batting performance was 179 runs against Royal College Panadura in the same year.

Fourth year coloursman Eranga Jayakody scored 760 runs with two centuries and two half centuries in 16 matches in the last season 2019/2020.

He maintained 33.04 average. His best batting performance was 102 runs against Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda. He scored unbeaten 101 runs against Kingswood College Kandy. He scored 82 runs against St. John’s College Panadura. He made a half century in the last annual big match against Piliyandala Central College in 2020. He scored the most runs for the Taxila Central College in last two seasons.

He passed O/L exam with 6 A’s and 3 B’s in 2019. He joined Nalanda College Colombo in the grade 12. He will sit A/L in 2022.
