Colombo Kings joined the semi-final line-up of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) when they outplayed Kandy Tuskers by seven wickets in their T20 Cricket Tournament second-round fixture played under lights at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota on Saturday.
The match of course, turned out to be a completely one-sided contest after the Tuskers were skittle out for a paltry 105 runs in 19.2 overs having won the toss and elected to bat first.
Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz hit a top score of 34 with two sixes and four boundaries but the rest of the batting collapsed against some penetrative bowling from Qais Ahmad (2/8), Ashan Priyanjan (2/4) and Thikshila de Silva (2/6).
However, paceman Dushmantha Chameera who claimed the prize wicket of Kusal Janith Perera in the third over of the innings was named Man-of-the-Match.
The Kings then reached their victory target with 35 deliveries and seven wickets to spare with in-form opener, Dinesh Chandimal stroking an unbeaten 35.
Together with Ashan Priyanjan (26 n.o) the pair put on an unfinished fourth-wicket stand of 56 runs in seven overs.
The Kings will now join the semi-final line-up along with Jaffna Stallions and Dambulla Viiking.
