Chathuranga Kalhara Hettiarachchi, is an outstanding football player as well as an up and coming Athlete who is a Grade 10 student of Dharmaraja College, Kandy He is 15 years old and started his football career at the age of nine years under a qualified National Football Coach, M.T. Konara attached to the Ministry of Sports. During his six years of playing Football, Chathuranga has turned in some outstanding performances winning a number of Best player Awards and leading his team to victory in many Football Tournaments. Chathuranga was adjudged the Best Player at the Kandy District Football tournament in the years 2016, 2018 and 2019. In addition he led his School Football team and Sisu Sports Club (situated at Ampitiya) to victory at the Kandy District Secretariat Football Tourney, Inter-Club tournament and at Kandy Futsal Football tourney but his team became Runners-up at the Kandy District Inter-School Tournament held in 2018 & 2019 in the under 16 age category.
He played as an Attacker of the team As an Athlete he participated at the Junior Sir John Tarbat Athletic Meet in 2016 as an under 12 Athlete and in 2017 as an under 14 Athlete and won Merit Awards for 100 Metres and 200 Metres races.
In the year 2019, he secured 2nd place in the Under 15 Long Jump event and received a Merit Award for 80 Metres Hurdles and at the Colours Award Ceremony of Dharmaraja College, he received Merit Awards for his performances in Athletics in 2018.
His ambition is to play for the National Football Team and to become a professional Football player in future. He is thankful to his Coach M.T.Konara and his family members for the support and guidance given to him. His favorite Football player is Polo De Bala of Argentina.
