Chathuranga does President’s Maharagama proud

Chathuranga Devinda Ekanayake skipper of President’s College Maharagama came up with a sterling all-round display in the Under-19 Division Three inter School Cricket (Two day) tournament 2019/20 season conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association.

Chathuranga Ekanayake 6th year coloursman of President’s College scored 925 runs in the 2019-20 season with a century and six half centuries with a top score of 141 runs against Royal College Horana as a right hand batsman. He made half centuries against Shasthrananda MV Dehiwala (73), C.W.W.Kannangara Colombo (77), Ananda Shashthralaya Kotte (57), Vidyaloka Galle (86), Siddahartha Balapitiya (83) and Mahinda Rajapaksa NS Homagama (78). He captured 32 wickets in the season. His best bowling performance in an innings was 4 for 53 runs against Siddahartha MMV Balapitiya. His best all-round performance was against Siddahartha MMV Balapitiya. He scored 83 and 10 in the two innings and took 3 wickets for 31 runs and 4 wickets for 53 runs Chathuranga Ekanayake started his Cricket career at 11 years as a right hand batsman and wicket keeper in the college under 13 team in 2012 under the coach Shammi Hettiarachchi. Chathuranga scored over 250 runs with a half century in the season of 2012. He scored over 300 runs with two half centuries in 2013 and scored over 250 runs in the season of 2014. He played

three seasons of the under 13 age level in 2012, 2013 and 2014. 13 year old Chathuranga represented the school first XI team as a fresher in 2014/2015 season.

He scored over 300 runs in the school under 15 tournament in 2015. He represented the college under 19 team in 2015/16. and scored over 350 runs with a half century as the skipper in the under 17 tournament in 2016. He scored over 500 runs with 2 half centuries in the season of 2016/2017.

Wicket keeper Chathuranga changed to a right arm medium fast bowler under the guidance of coach Shammi Hettiarachchi. He scored over 500 runs with three half centuries in 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 seasons.Chathuranga scored more than 200 runs and claimed 17 wickets in the under 17 tournament in 2017. He scored more than 300 runs and captured 26 wickets as the skipper in the under 17 tournament in 2018. He scored 946 runs with a century and six half centuries in 2018/2019 season. He played in the college first XI team for six seasons.

He represented champion Old President’s SC in the division Three inter club Cricket tournament conducted by Colombo District Cricket Association in 2018 and 2019.
