20 year old Sri Lanka youth cap Dilshan from Hungama picked for LPL

Sri Lanka youth cap 20 year old left arm medium paceman Dilshan Madushanka, has been selected for the squad of Dambulla Viking in the ongoing Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 tournament.

Dilshan Madushanka an old boy of Vijayaba National School Hungama from Hambantota district has also being included in the Sri Lanka national squad for the forthcoming South Africa tour.

Dilshan Madushanka was educated at Vijayaba National School Hungama. He played Softball Cricket in the school . He joined the school leather ball Cricket team at under 15 age level on a request by his school Cricket coach Mr. Ilangaratne. Dilshan represented the school under 15 team in 2014 and 2015. Dilshan represented the school under 15 team under the guidance of coach Hashan Tharinda in 2015. He played school Cricket in only under 15 age limit. He gave up school Cricket in under 17 age level and played Softball Cricket during this period. Manjula Karunarathne district coach of Hambantota observed Dilshan’s bowling action in Softball Cricket. and invited Dilshan to attend leather ball Cricket practices again. He represented the Hambantota district under 19 team in 2018. and represented the Southern Province under 19 team in the same year.

Dilshan was introduced to Chaminda Vaas by Manjula Karunarathne district coach of Hambantota. He joined as a Net bowler for Sri Lanka under 19 team practice sessions at MRICS Hambantota in 2018. He was selected to the Sri Lanka under 19 squad. He trained under the guidance of Chaminda Vaas, legendary left arm fast bowler and member of the Sri Lanka team which won the World Cup in 1996 and the fast bowling coach of Sri Lanka under 19 team.

Dilshan Madushanka represented Sri Lanka under 19 team against Australia under 19’s. He played three matches against Australia under 19’s and he couldn’t take any wickets in the series. He played four games against Pakistan under 19’s and claimed 8 wickets in that series. He represented Sri Lanka under 19’s in the under 19 Asia Cup in Sri Lanka. and claimed only six wickets in two matches.

Dilshan represented Sri Lanka under 19’s tour of Bangladesh. but claimed only 3 wickets in 2 matches against Bangladesh He missed the Tri-nation series in West Indies due to injury. He represented Sri Lanka under 19’s for the Youth World Cup in South Africa. He claimed 13 wickets in 6 matches of the Youth World cup. and was the leading wicket taker in the Sri Lanka under 19’s side in the Youth World Cup

2020. His best bowling performance was 5 for 36 runs against Nigeria under 19’s. He played 17 Youth ODI matches and took 30 wickets. Dilshan represented the Sri Lanka Emerging team which toured South Africa as a 18 year old in 2019. He represented the Sri Lanka Cricket team against the touring West Indies during a warm-up match in March 2020.

He represented Colts CC in the Premier under 23 inter club tournament in 2019 and 2020. He played in the Major league inter club tournament in 2020. His best performance in an innings is 6 for 33 against Negombo CC.
